And Ya'll Thought *I* Was Pathetic

This just takes it to a whole 'nother level.

Actually, who am I kidding? It's only a matter of days until you see me walking around town with one of these dolls. They are only $250.

They are called Re-Borns. They are baby dolls that look real. I kid you not. In fact, some of the babies are, get this, on life-support. Click on the 'Re-Born' link and you can see for yourself.

Check out this 3 minute documentary called My Fake Baby that takes a look at adult women who buy the Re-Borns and treat them like real live, honest-to-god infants.

On the plus side, the notion of a baby that doesn't cry, poop, or grow up is kind of cool. And I can also use the carpool lane with my fake baby in the car.

It is stuff like this that makes me realize I am not as crazy as I think I am. Thanks Tasha!

uh-may-zing. I don't even know how you find these things!

When I was in HS, we had a high percentage of teenage pregnancies, so we had a program where you had to "check out" a 'baby-think-it-over' for a week. When I played basketball, I had to find a baby sitter. It would wake up in the middle of the night and cry and everything. It had some sort of sensor or something inside, so that if you let it cry for too long or neglected it, it would tell the woman in charge of this great program. Wild, huh? Anyway, just made me think of that...

That is just sad to me. How much more sick can our society be that kills babies unwanted in the womb but then sells dolls to resemble them? At least make them real with the projectile vomit, nasty diapers and tantrums!!!

Ew! I've always thought there's something scary about life-like baby dolls.

....do they come in brown?

Scary...disturbing...but I guess I have an option if I can't afford adoption #2.

Ya, if this process doesn't move along a little more quickly, I may just look into getting one of these instead.

hmmmm...something snuggly with no poop?

It does remind me of my bizarre cousin that did not have a baby but drove around with a car seat and stroller in her vehicle....sad.

On second thought, I have a nursery and complete wardrobe for a baby that I haven't met yet.

Tabitha is creeping me out. Would it kill this kid to smile once in a while when someone takes her picture?

Actually if you want a pooping doll baby you can always get a Baby Alive doll. My niece has one, you feed it then have to change it's diaper...ewwwww.... but she thinks it's fun.

My husband said the deer did cartwheels across the road and he never saw it again. Hopefully, Bambi (or his mother) went fairly quickly after that and didn't have to suffer...

Creepy. Everything about that video creeps me out, including the music.

Not to endorse this, but I did hear that they were "popular" with mothers who lost a full term pregnancy. They're supposed to be weighted to feel "real" and it helps the mother grieve or something like that. There was a blog I used to read that the woman had a full term miscarriage and she said the doll really helped her get through her "mother instinct" (she said she had the doll for about a month before she was able to fully let go and grieve)... not sure if it's healthy... just wanted to offer up a different perspective
